Here's what we think about global sustainability

What traces do our decisions leave behind?

We take responsibility

As the leading trade show for the global travel industry, ITB Berlin is also a driving force for corporate social responsibility. Ecological and social responsibility is a substantial task for the future and a prerequisite for long-term success, not just economic success.

ITB Berlin itself is committed to climate, environmental and animal protection and human rights in tourism: For social justice and equality, against any kind of discrimination, against sexual exploitation of children and women.

We pull together

In order to make a lasting difference, holistic tourism concepts and a joint commitment are needed. That is why ITB Berlin uses its key position in the market to purposefully promote dialogue between the players in the tourism value chain - tourism companies and subcontractors, research institutions, associations, government and non-profit organizations.

Together with many partners from around the world, ITB Berlin supports and promotes numerous projects in the field of Responsible Tourism.

▶ Affordable climate-conscious travel is possible

▶ Authentic encounters and experiences in the destinations are possible.

▶ Empowerment of local communities is possible

Here are some program highlights:

  • ITB Responsible Destination Day
  • Tourism for Sustainable Development Day (powered by BMZ)
  • Empowerment Days (incl. Indigenous Travel, Gender Equality, LGBTQ+ & Diversity, Animal Welfare + Female Social Entrepreneurship)
  • CSR-in-Tourism-Day

ITB-powered Awards:

  • ITB LGBTQ+ Pioneer Award
  • ITB Medical Tourism Award
  • ITB Book Awards (including the award for books in the category "Sustainability in Tourism")

ITB-supported Awards:

In addition, we collect donations and organize charity and fundraising events for carefully selected social aid projects (e.g. in connection with our respective ITB Berlin partner country or the IGLTA Foundation (ITB Diversity Gala).
